Notre-Dame de Paris
Notre-Dame de Paris, based on Victor Hugo’s tale of Quasimodo and Esmeralda, has been a phenomenal success since it was unleashed on the French-speaking world 4 years ago. The musical is the creation of lyricist Luc Plamondon and composer Richard Cocciante, who have both won numerous awards for their work. The show has been seen by over 3 million spectators around the world and the album has sold over 8 million copies.
After taking Europe by storm, “Notre-Dame de Paris” then opened in English in Las Vegas and in the West End in London for a 2 year run. The English lyrics are written by Will Jennings – Oscar-winner for “My Heart Will Go On” from the smash-hit film Titanic. The English language album, featuring the main stars of the London production, features guest star Celine Dion singing “Live for the One I Love”. Notre-Dame de Paris is directed by Gilles Maheu, choreographed by Martino Muller.
In 2001, Notre Dame de Paris opened in Spain and became the recepient of the “Best Musical Award” in Barcelona.
The international voyage of Notre Dame de Paris is unsurpassed by any other theatrical production in the new millenium to date. Since becoming a staple of the GarberIMC roster, Notre Dame de Paris has been signed to play in more than ten countries with as many translated versions. As present, the show continues to play almost every night in France, Italy and Russia and will shortly make the journey to China, Korea and Japan.
